    Description

Les Maitres de L'Affiche (Imprimerie Chaix, 1897). Trimmed Color Lithograph Plate No. 53 (30" X 15.75"). Miscellaneous. "Bal au Moulin Rouge by Jules Cheret."
The Maitres de l'Affiche was born from the high international interest of the popular movement that transformed commercial advertisements into a revered art style by such artists as Cheret, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Mucha, which were highly sought by collectors and enthusiasts alike in both America and Europe. The series was made available to the public as a monthly subscription that provided four prints per month, continuing for five years, and producing 240 images plus 16 bonus images. Each print has the plate number, the printers name "Impreimerie Chaix," and an embossed stamp (designed by Cheret) in the lower border. An unrestored color lithograph with an overall presentable appearance. It may have slight edge wear, small tears, smudges, unobtrusive stains, light toning, chips in the borders and paper loss. The right border has been slightly trimmed. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Fine+.
