    Description

Le Tour du Mt. Blanc Travel Poster (Paris Lyon Mediteranée Rail Line, 1927). Poster (31" X 42.5").
In the world of travel poster art, the creations of native Parisian illustrator Roger Broders have soared in popularity in recent years. In 1922, Broders was hired on by the Paris Lyon Mediteranée rail line to design posters promoting travel from the French Alps to the Mediterranean Sea. He spent the next ten years depicting one striking destination after another. This piece features the artist's typical use of bold lettering and bright, flat spaces of solid color. A sense of locomotion is cleverly suggested, with a PLM Railway Bus winding its way up Mount Blanc, transporting its well-heeled holidayers to their alpine heaven. A rare find, this gem also has the distinction of being the only poster on which Broders added metallic gold ink. Not only is this collectible quite scarce, but it's in pristine condition. Travel posters strike a chord with almost everyone, and this unique item presents an excellent opportunity to acquire one of the very best examples. Very Fine+ on Linen.
