    Description

Cycles Peugeot (Lemercier, c. 1900). Advertising Poster (41.75" X 58.5"). Ernest Vulliemin Artwork.
Peugeot began its storied history of manufacturing cycles in 1882, with its release of the penny-farthing. By the time World War I began, the company was producing over 23,000 bicycles per year. This fabulous stone litho poster, by Swiss artist Ernest Vulliemin (1862-1902), depicts a postman delivering a message on his Peugeot cycle to a French cuirassier on horseback. With it's gorgeous color and scenic composition, this poster is sure to be a must-have for collectors of cycling memorabilia, military, or French history. Partial restoration has addressed some issues such as paper loss and a few large tears. Unaddressed issues include pinholes, minor paper loss, and tears. Fine+ on Linen.
