    Description

Charles Ray in The Courtship of Miles Standish (Associated Exhibitors, 1923). Autographed Portrait Photo (11" X 14"). Miscellaneous.
With a three million dollar budget, a full-sized replica of the Mayflower, and three huge log cabins, The Courtship of Miles Standish promised to be a spectacle of epic proportions. Actor and producer Charles Ray was so sure of his film that he sunk millions of dollars of his own money into the production. Sadly, the film failed at the box office and is now considered a lost film. This photo of Charles Ray in his costume from the film, marks the apex of his career. An unrestored photo that has an overall presentable appearance. May show some signs of age, including edge wear, corner bends, creases, small tears, slight paper loss, smudges and stains, or very mild toning. Photo is signed "To Seidel, in appreciation of this wig. Sincerely yours, Charles Ray -1923-" Heritage believes the autograph in this lot to be authentic, but know before bidding that no Certificate of Authenticity is provided. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Very Good/Fine.
