DescriptionIn Old Arizona (Fox, 1929). Very Fine- on Paper. Half Sheet (22" X 28").
Fans of this historic Western should be thrilled at the chance to own this poster, the only known half sheet from the film. In Old Arizona was another large step in the realm of sound technology as both the first major Western to be filmed with audio and also as the first talkie to be filmed outdoors. Met with praise upon its release, the picture gained a total of five Academy Award nominations in the categories of Outstanding Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, and Best Writing. Due to the rule that one movie could only be selected for one award, Warner Baxter took home the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance as the wily Cisco Kid. Never folded prior to backing, the poster looks wonderful after receiving professional touchup to creases, a couple of tears, and a minor chip in the bottom border. The borders have been airbrushed for a nice finish to the restoration.
Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
