    Description

    The Mummy (Universal, 1932). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
This was Boris Karloff's second Universal horror starring role, following on the heels of his phenomenal success in Frankenstein. This time, Karloff appears as the Egyptian high priest Imhotep, who comes back to life, mummified, after thousands of years when his tomb is disturbed. The masterful makeup skills of Jack Pierce are on full display in this rare lobby card, giving us a closeup view of Karloff's magnificent makeup. Bramwell Fletcher also makes an appearance in this image, showing the moment right after his character has accidentally raised Karloff back to life. Original posters and lobbies from this film are some of the scarcest and most beautiful in the Universal horror series, and continue to set the pace for the rest of the posters in the genre. There were only two cards in the eight card set that pictured Karloff in his mummified state. This is considered to be by far the best from the set. In incredible shape, this lobby card has only small corner bumps, a few pinholes in the borders, and very minor nick in the upper right border. Otherwise, this card is completely clean and shows no issues inside its magnificent image. Very Fine+.
