    Description

    The Invisible Man (Universal, 1933). Fine+. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
The original release posters available for this Universal classic are very, very rare, making this lobby card's debut at Heritage an occasion of particular note for collectors. Original lobby cards from the film are so rare, in fact, that this is only the second time we have ever offered one from the entire set. Better yet, this is considered the best of all the known scene cards, of which only seven of the eight have ever been found, with the dramatic tableau unfolding between Claude Rains and the picture's leading lady, Gloria Stuart. As the studio's most successful horror film since Frankenstein, this adaptation of H. G. Wells' famous story went on to spawn a sequel with Vincent Price in The Invisible Man Returns and inspired such comedic films as The Invisible Woman and Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man. Partial touchup has been applied to a few pinholes and a bit of wear in Gloria Stuart's image. Unaddressed issues include slight creases, surface scuffs, minor tears and paper lifts, and unobtrusive stains and smudges. There is a small border chip in the top left corner that extended into the blue band, as well as two in the top right and bottom left corners that do not affect the printed areas. Each of these chips have splices, and the card has some pieces of paper tape on the verso. Certainly an item of extreme scarcity, horror collectors should jump on the chance to own this rarely seen card.
