    Description

Famous Monsters of Filmland #13 & 5th Anniversary Issue (Central Publications, 1961/1963). Magazines (2) (Multiple Pages, 8.5" X 11"). Horror.
Arguably the first horror, fantasy, and science fiction movie-related magazine of its time, Famous Monsters of Filmland and its editor Forrest J Ackerman and publisher James Warren built a rabid following of fans for the genre from 1958-1983. Featuring in this lot are two issues: The August 1961 #13 (with articles about a young boy's tour of Ackerman's house, The Incredible Shrinking Man, The Beasts of Tarzan, and The Thing from Another World) and the April 1963 (5th Anniversary issue with articles about Boris Karloff, the deaths of Charles Laughton and Willis O'Brien, Tod Browning, and photos from Dracula). Unrestored magazines that display signs of use. May include edge and spine wear, spine separations, corner bends, and surface scuffing on the covers. The 1963 issue's front cover has completely detached from the magazine and been reattached with cellophane tape along the spine. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Fine/Very Fine.
