Description

Creature from the Black Lagoon (Universal International, 1954). Three Sheet (41.25" X 80").
Posters for Universal's "Creature" frequently rise from the depths of collections, but for some reason, the three sheet is a particularly elusive format for the title. For this reason, Heritage is particularly pleased to offer this copy that is sure to be on every collector's short list. It was inspired by the tale of an Amazon expedition that discovers a bizarre, human/amphibian hybrid who, like most monsters of the era, takes a shine to the lone female member of the crew (played by Julia Adams). This landmark 50s sci-fi film spawned two sequels, and cemented the Gill-Man's place in the pantheon of Universal monster stars. The incomparable Reynold Brown brings the Creature to life on this incredible three sheet, not to mention the alluring Adams. The poster displays very well after a bit of color enhancement, and touchup the folds, a tear in the Creature's face and in the bottom border that extends up to the crossfold, and paper loss in the borders, at the top right and in Adam's body. A monster of a find, this piece will make a stunning addition to the collection of one lucky bidder! Good/Very Good on Linen.
