DescriptionCreature from the Black Lagoon (Universal International, 1954). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27.25" X 41"). Albert Kallis Artwork.
While Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Wolf Man were based on literature or legend, Universal's Creature from the Black Lagoon was a wholly original creation, and the last "classic" monster to be considered part of the pantheon. The monster suit was certainly one of the best ever created for film -- largely the work of Universal staffer Millicent Patrick -- and still holds up over fifty years after its original release. Richard Carlson and Julia Adams star in this timeless Universal horror tale of an expedition to the dark waters of the Amazon; an expedition which uncovers the existence of a half-human, half-amphibian Gill Man. Since the initial release of this film, the Creature has become one of the most popular monsters in the Universal stable, rivaling the studio's literary supernatural villains. Professionally restored, this poster no longer shows fold wear and separations, pinholes, a few tears, and small chips. There was also a tear in the lower left image and the poster has had some color enhancement to the red printing.
