Vertigo (Paramount, 1958). One Sheet (27" X 41.75").
A noted director once said that for him, Vertigo began when he saw the Saul Bass designed poster outside the theatre. The artist uses a jittery font and a clever, unsettling spiral, pulling the characters into a vortex of disequilibrium. A woman lies in a pool of blood, a police-styled drawn outline around her, and whether the man in black is harming or helping, remains eerily uncertain. Three of the borders were very slightly trimmed, and touchup has been applied to the folds. A quintessential piece for both Hitchcock and graphic art connoisseurs. Fine+ on Linen.
