High Sierra (Warner Brothers, 1941). Three Sheet (41.5" X 79").
This is the film that solidified Humphrey Bogart as a major star on the Warner's lot and the actor would never have to go back to second billing. Fate intervened from the beginning, when both Paul Muni and George Raft walked away from the lead part. Instead, Bogart was cast as the gangster, Mad Dog Earle, and a legendary cinematic character was born. John Huston co-wrote the script based on W.R. Burnett's book about an aging gangster on the run from the law. Bogart played the part with gusto and with a sympathetic side that audiences had never seen in him before. The three sheet format from High Sierra is exceedingly rare. Professionally restored, the poster has had touchup to the folds, chips and tears in the bottom section/borders, and tears in Bogart's hand holding the shotgun. Fine- on Linen.
