Description
Photoplay Magazine Screen Supplement (Educational Films Corporation of America, 1919). One Sheet (28" X 41").An industry magazine of the day, Photoplay contained beautiful portraits and head shots of Hollywood's brightest stars, as well as advertisements, interviews, and articles about Hollywood and Broadway. However in 1917, the company took their magazine to the big screen, with a documentary-styled compilation of filmed interviews and slice-of-life pieces following the daily routine of the stars, as well as some of the action to be found behind the camera. This particular segment featured interviews with Douglas Fairbanks and his comedic short writers Anita Loos and John Emerson, Mary Miles Miller and director James Kirkwood, a day in the life of stage and screen actor Montague Love, marital comedians Mr. and Mrs. Drew, and a cartoon by early animator Wallace Carlson. Professional restoration has addressed some tears and diagonal creases in the borders and interior, a small hole in the lower fold, chips in the borders, a section of paper loss from the left white border into the decorative border, and there has been touchup to the folds. Fine- on Linen.
