    Description

Rashomon (CEI Incom, 1952). Folded, Very Fine-. Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 78") Ercole Brini Artwork.
This rare Italian first release poster for Kurosawa's classic is offered for the first time by Heritage Auctions and is unknown to have been sold in auction ever before. A gorgeous image is created by master poster artist Ercole Brini. One of the most influential films in the history of Japanese cinema, this was director Akira Kurosawa's tale of the vicious murder of a samurai by a roving bandit, told mainly in flashback by the samurai's wife, a woodcutter who witnessed the event, the bandit, and the victim himself by way of a medium. All four tell different stories, leading to a compelling exploration of the meaning of truth. The film has impacted our legal system and recognizes "The Rashomon Effect" concerning eyewitness testimony. The beautiful poster has some fold wear and tanning within the folds. There is minor fold separation and slight chipping.
