    Description

Moon of Israel (Union-Artistic Films, 1924). French Grande (46.75" X 62.5") Armand Rapeno Artwork.
Even during the silent era, Micheal Curtiz displayed his excellent eye for cinematography long before he would become famous for his masterpieces Casablanca and Robin Hood. Knowing full well that his adaptation of H. Rider Haggard's fictional account of the Exodus would be in direct competition with Cecil B. DeMille's lavish The Ten Commandments, Curtiz pulled out all of the stops to make sure his smaller German studio could compete with Hollywood special effects. His efforts and spectacular collapse of the Red Sea proved his worth and caught the eye of Jack L. Warner, who would bring Cutiz's talents to the United state just two years later. Offered by Heritage for the first time, this beautiful stone litho illustration by Armand Rapeno has light touchup to the folds. Very Fine+ on Linen.
