    Description

Love Eternal (Scalera Film, 1943). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Italian Half - Foglio (19.25" X 27") Leon Artwork.
A retelling of one of France's most famous love stories, writer Jean Cocteau and director Jean Delannoy set the tragic tale of Tristan and Isolde in 1940s France. Madeleine Sologne and Jean Marais play the parts of the ill-fated lovers, while Jean Murat and Junie Astor give solid supporting performances. Though less well known than Cocteau's later films Beauty and the Beast and Orpheus, Love Eternal features many of the same storytelling and directorial elements that gained Cocteau much acclaim among audiences. This first time offering from Heritage has received professional corrections to fold wear, pinholes, small chips, a couple of tears, and a thin strip of paper loss along part of the top border. The borders and background have been airbrushed.
