Forbidden Planet (MGM, 1956). Fine on Linen. Autographed One Sheet (27" X 41").
As one of the most popular sci-fi films of the 1950s, Forbidden Planet has a dedicated following among collectors for its impact on the genre and the posters' fantastical Space Age imagery. It was MGM's first big-budget sci-fi flick, complete with cutting-edge special effects, the introduction of the beloved Robby the Robot, and a plot inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest. All in all, it's no surprise this film had a huge effect on future outer space tales, including Star Trek. This one sheet should be of special note as the starring actor and future comedian, Leslie Nielsen, has autographed the poster over his credit. Repairs have been made to fold wear and separations, pinholes, creases, writing bleedthrough, and some small chips and tears. There were a few tape stains with paper lifts, particularly in the credits, and some paper loss from the upper right border into the "Amazing!" text. These issues are still somewhat visible in a few areas, and the top border has been airbrushed.

    Estimate: $7,000 - $14,000.
