    Description

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
A classic film noir from novel to screenplay, This Gun for Hire hits all of the high points essential for a shady crime thriller, complete with hardboiled leads, twisting plotlines, and a drop-dead gorgeous dame. Previously a total unknown to Hollywood with eight years of bit parts and extra credits to his name, Alan Ladd finally caught his big break as author Graham Greene's conflicted assassin, Phillip Raven. Despite Robert Preston's top billing, Ladd stole the attention of audiences with his gritty performance and undeniable chemistry with the alluring Veronica Lake. In fact, he proved to be so popular that he would later replace Preston's top billing in the 1945 reissue of the title, taking his spot as the true star of the show. Lake is as sultry as ever on this highly coveted one sheet. Boasting crisp and bright colors, this poster looks beautiful after correcting fold wear, pinholes, a couple of small tears, and a tape stain in the right border. The linen has been trimmed to the border, however not into the poster itself. All of the aforementioned issues have been rendered unnoticeable with this skilled conservation. Very Fine- on Linen.
