    Description

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). Three Sheet (41" X 81").
Alan Ladd became a star with his portrayal of a disturbing killer in this perennial favorite. Director Frank Tuttle had wanted to cast Robert Preston in the lead role, but later hunted for an unknown. When Tuttle met Ladd, the director knew that the 28-year-old blond could make the cold-blooded killer Phillip Raven a sympathetic character, which he thought was key to the film's success. He was right. For his first of seven pairings with sultry Veronica Lake, Ladd would receive only $300 a week! This cornerstone three sheet for the quintessential film noir is the first original issue we've offered. It's great atmosphere art with a disinterested Ladd oozing tough guy, cool in trench coat and dangling "gat," receiving a kiss from Lake. Some paper loss issues on the right side and small chips and tears in both credits have been professionally restored and the poster shows extremely well. There were pinholes, small chips in the crossfold separations and some minor abrasions remain on the left side. Reward yourself with a true piece of Hollywood greatness! Good/Very Good on Linen.
