    Description

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). One Sheet (27" X 41").
A classic film noir from novel to screenplay, This Gun for Hire hits all of the high points essential for a shady crime thriller from hardboiled leads to its twisting, multilayered plot. Previously a complete unknown to Hollywood with eight years worth of bit parts and extra credits to his name, Alan Ladd finally caught his big break as author Graham Greene's conflicted assassin Phillip Raven, a part that director Frank Tuttle had much difficulty filling up until Ladd's compelling screen test. Despite Robert Preston's top billing, Ladd stole the attention of audiences throughout the film with his gritty performance and undeniable chemistry with the alluring Veronica Lake, and would later replace Preston's above title credit as the true star of the show. This fan favorite noir poster has had touchup to the folds, small tears in the border at the folds, a small hole in the bottom left blue background, and a tiny chip in the bottom border. A square chip in each of the corners has been replaced. The poster shows some small cracks in border touchup with one along the lower border, and linen has been trimmed up close to the border. Each of the corners show some separation from the masa paper. Fine+ on Linen.
