    Description

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). One Sheet (27" X 41").
This Gun for Hire reigns as the prevailing standard for film noir, and was the first pairing of Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake, a duo that would become icons of the genre. Hit-man Raven ( Ladd) seeks revenge against a man who double crossed him, and teams with Ellen (Veronica Lake) in an uneasy alliance. Despite being billed fourth on the film, Ladd delivers the ultimate performance. This remarkable one sheet is considered to be one of the most prized in the entire hobby. Lake, on the cusp of super-stardom, stares pointedly out from behind her "peek-a-boo" hairstyle, which would soon became her trademark. Linen backed with excellent restoration, the poster previously showed a tear in right border as well as a small chip, fold wear with touch up, and a small missing top left corner border piece. The defects did not affect the artwork and the piece displays magnificently. Fine+ on Linen.
