The Night of the Hunter (United Artists, 1955). Three Sheet (40.5" X 79.25").The only movie directed by actor Charles Laughton, this nightmarish film noir is a moral story of good versus evil told from the perspective of children. Stating it as his personal favorite, star Robert Mitchum was at the top of his game as a terrifying preacher in search of hidden money stolen by his deceased prison cellmate. Shelley Winters is the mother of the children, and Lillian Gish delivers a powerful performance as the children's protector. This poster is truly amazing as it features Mitchum and Winters against the moon, his hand with the tattoo "Love" on his knuckles holding her close and the hand with the tattoo "Hate" ready to kill her. Touchup has been applied to the lower line of the title and to a few of the folds. Unaddressed wear includes small border tears, creases, smudges, and unobtrusive staining. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
