This film noir classic, based on a story by Ernest Hemingway, marked the film debut of Burt Lancaster. Sultry Ava Gardner is his love interest in this hard-nosed drama of an ex-fighter found murdered, and the subsequent investigation. Anthony Veiller's Oscar-nominated screenplay helped make The Killers one of the definitive film noir experiences, including what many consider to be one of the greatest opening sequences in movie history.
