Sunset Boulevard (Paramount, 1950). Folded, Very Fine-. Insert (14" X 36").With Sunset Boulevard, director Billy Wilder brought to the screen a dark vision of Tinseltown that many consider to be one of the greatest films ever made. Featuring phenomenal performances by Gloria Swanson and William Holden, the film brought home three Academy Awards, after gaining eleven nominations. Wilder's vision presented the role of a lifetime for Swanson, who portrays a washed-up and aging silent screen star that has latched onto a failing screenwriter, played by Holden. What unfolds is a brutal Hollywood caricature that has landed the film on numerous "best of" lists, including the 100 Best American Films of the 20th Century by the American Film Institute. This searing insert displays such signs of use as slight fold wear, light creases, pinholes, and minor tears. Also visible are unobtrusive stains and smudges, a minute paper lift to the lower right, and mild writing bleedthrough at the bottom.
