Nightmare Alley (20th Century Fox, 1947). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Now regarded as one of the gems of the film noir era despite a rough start in theaters when it was released in 1947, Nightmare Alley stars Tyrone Power in a role he hoped would expand the types of movies he was offered. Power stars as Stan Carlisle, a sideshow performer who tries to break away from his carny life and ends up entangled in plots involving femme fatales Zeena (Joan Blondell), Molly (Coleen Gray), and Lilith (Helen Walker). This one sheet for the film exudes the film noir aesthetic as Power gives the side-eye to his female co-stars, wary of the devious schemes that are in store for him. Restoration has addressed edge and fold wear, pinholes, fold separations, slight tears, and chips. Touchup has been applied to two small chips and a tears beneath Power's nose, and a pinhole is visible in Blondell's hair. The poster also has faint smudges, minor stains mostly in the borders, and two of the poster's corners are starting to slightly separate from the backing. There is also airbrushing in the borders, on some of the folds, and in a few parts of the background.
