    In a Lonely Place (Columbia, 1950). Italian (39" X 55"). Nicholas Ray, the director who would bring us James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause," directed Humphrey Bogart in this unusual and cultish film noir. Bogart stars as Dixon Steele, a writer who may or may not be a murderer. Perennial femme fatale Gloria Grahame plays Bogart's girlfriend who fears for her life. This stunning poster by Anselmo Ballester is the best poster created for this film. It has repair work and airbrushing to tears above and below Grahame, and another in the lower border which goes into the "di" of the title. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
