    Description

    Dillinger (Monogram, 1947). First Post-War Italian Poster (55" X 55").
In post-war Italy even the name of John Dillinger wasn't well known nor was the phenomena of his hold on the public's fascination from the previous decade. Thus the reason the film was retitled, The Exterminator. This low-budget Monogram film was so loosely based on the life story of Dillinger that many would would claim there was little evidence of the truth. Notice that Lawrence Tierney, the titular character of the film, is given a lower credit on the poster as this was his first breakout role. He would go onto a long career lasting up to Reservoir Dogs (1992) and well beyond. The poster is in very fine condition and there was only a bit of fold wear to the upper horizontal fold to the left of Tierney's head and pinholes in the corners and around the borders. The professional restoration has been handled very well. This is a wonderful Italian poster with images of Tierney and Anne Jeffreys involved in a hold-up from this gritty crime drama. Very Fine- on Linen.
