    Description

The Wizard of Oz (MGM, 1939). Fine+. Title Lobby Card (11" X 14") Al Hirschfeld Title Artwork.
Since its original 1939 release, The Wizard of Oz has only grown in popularity year after year, initially through its repeated showings on television, and then in its widespread video releases. Featuring headshots of Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, and Jack Haley at the top, and wonderful Al Hirschfeld art in the title below, this original title card is without a doubt, one of the most sought after pieces in the movie poster collecting hobby. There have been professional corrections to edge wear, pinholes, and some small chips and tears. The card also had a few surface scratches, including one from above the "I" in the title and extending into the "D." Still visible are some unobtrusive stains and smudges, as well as a minor post-restoration chip at the bottom edge. The borders have been airbrushed. Professional restoration has diminished these flaws and the card displays beautifully.
