    Die Nibelungen Lot (UFA, 1924). Very Fine-. German Poster (8.75" X 12"), First Edition German Hardcover Book (268 Pages, 5" X 7.5"), German Premiere Program (36 Pages, 5" X 6.75"), German Lobby Card on Paper (Card: 8.5" X 11.5", Paper: 10" X 14.25"), German Postcards (2) (3.5" X 5.25"), & German Promotional Sheet (8.5" X 11.5") with an Attached German Postcard. Theo Matejko Artwork.
Drawing his inspiration from the famed 13th century epic poem, Fritz Lang took one of the greatest literary sagas in history and transformed it into a lavish spectacle of the silent screen. Bearing the beginning marks of Lang's German Expressionist aesthetic, his two-part retelling of the story is a sumptuous affair rich with both detailed costumes, impressive battle scenes, and, best of all, wonderfully expressive acting. The poster is in great condition, showing only light creases, minute paper lifts, and light foxing. Included in this lot is a 1924 German hardcover first edition of Das Nibelungenbuch by Lang's wife, Thea Von Harbou, which has a black and white glossy photo print adhered to the front flyleaf and printed images from the film on several pages. General wear includes slight edge and spine wear, a few spine cracks, small surface scuffs, as well as some toning within the pages. A few of the pages are beginning to detach from the spine. The program is from the first showing of the film on February 14th of 1924 at the UFA-Palast Zoo Theater in Berlin and displays such signs of use as minor chips, minute tears, unobtrusive stains, as well as a studio sticker on the front cover. The lobby card picturing Siegfried and Kriemhild has been backed on a piece of paper with a vellum cover and shows light foxing, some surface rippling, and is beginning to detach from the paper in a couple of places. The postcards of Siegfried and Kriemhild display minute stains, faint toning, and the Siegfried card has a minor graphite marking on the verso. The promotional sheet has artwork by Julius Ussy Englehard and depicts Hagen and Kriemhild. Signs of handling include light creases, pinholes, and soft rippling from the postcard of Brunhild attached on the verso. The verso also has a printed example of the invitation to the film's premiere.
