The Street of Sin (Paramount, 1927). Insert (14" X 36").
Emil Jannings stars as a burglar who falls in love with a Salvation Army sweetie, played by the innocent Fay Wray. Trouble begins when his desire for a new life conflicts with his live-in girlfriend, the rough and equally criminal Annie (Olga Baclanova). Although the film is thought to be completely lost, it remains an important addition to his credits, alongside director Mauritz Stiller (his final film) and writer Josef von Sternberg, who would also direct the actor in The Blue Angel in 1930. Emil Jannings would be the first recipient for the Oscar for Best Actor the year after The Street of Sin for the film The Last Command. The depiction of Jannings as Basher Bill is truly outstanding. The poster shows edge wear, dust shadows, faint staining, and surface rippling. There are chips and small bits of paper loss at the edges. Rolled, Fine+.
