    Description

The Primal Lure (Triangle-Ince, 1916). Very Fine- on Linen. Three Sheet (41" X 81").
William Surrey Hart, who became known as the greatest cowboy star of the Silent Era, first got his start on stage with roles in the original Ben-Hur (1899) and The Virginian (1907), as well as dabbling in Shakespeare. He hit it big right from his first feature, The Bargain, with exhibitors voting him the top money-maker in both 1915 and 1916. Hart was even a friend of real cowboys Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp (he was a pallbearer, along with Tom Mix, at Earp's funeral), as well as aviatrix Amelia Earhart. This rich stone litho poster, featuring a lovely image of Margery Wilson, has been professionally restored to address mild fold wear, some chips in the borders, and a few tears into the interior, however the image was free of most of these flaws prior to restoration. The borders have been airbrushed.
