    Description

The Primal Lure (Triangle, 1916). Flat Folded Six Sheet (80" X 81").
Making its Heritage debut is this magnificent stone litho six sheet from William S. Hart's The Primal Lure. Hart is seen at the center this poster, as the head of a Hudson Bay trading post that's struck by an epidemic. At the far left is Margery Wilson, "The Girl Who Gloried in Her Revenge and Hate" as the tagline notes. Hart, the original screen cowboy, was inducted posthumously into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1975. This is the first six sheet from The Primal Lure to be seen at auction and most likely the first copy to be seen since the film's initial run. Given its astonishingly bright colors, it's surprising this poster was printed a century ago. There is a chip in the top border that extends into the "Triangle," two tears in the blue background just below "Triangle," a tear in the "A" of "William," wrinkling in the lower section, a tear in Wilson's coat, and edge wear at the bottom left. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
