    Description

The Hero (Al Lichtman Corporation, 1923). One Sheet (26.5" X 40.5") Style B.
This picture tells the story of a charming young man, who returns to his home town with a bevy of impressive tales from his exploits on the battlefield. The problem is, they're all patently false. His true lack of character is revealed when he seduces many women, including his brother's wife, and steals from the church coffers. But a chance at redemption appears when the local schoolhouse catches on fire, with several students still trapped inside, giving him the opportunity to become a true hero. That's Gaston Glass in the lead role, who would become a fine second unit director years later, working on some of 20th Century Fox's best musicals of the '40s, many with Carmen Miranda. Partial touchup has been applied to the folds, misfolds, and small border tears. There were a couple of minor chips in the borders and folds, and there were mild vertical tears off of the horizontal folds. The poster has some post-restoration creasing. Fine/Very Fine on Paper.
