Description

The Conquerors (RKO, 1932). One Sheet (27.5" X 41") Frederic C. Madan Artwork.
A tale of the American dream intended to lift the spirits of Depression-era audiences, Richard Dix and Ann Harding play a couple of newlyweds headed out west after the financially catastrophic Panic of 1873. There they find their success, founding a small bank in Nebraska that grows into a veritable empire over the next several decades. The film follows the twists and turns of the family's lives through heartbreaking tragedy and the joy of victory, eventually ending in a bittersweet hope for the future. Making its Heritage debut, the highly elusive one sheet showcases a brilliant image awash in color by artist Fredric C. Madan, providing us with beautifully rendered portraits of our leading couple. The poster has been backed on paper, with light professional touchup applied to the folds. Unaddressed signs of handling include small border tears, a surface scuff at the bottom of the title, and pinholes in the borders. A few of the pinholes are post-restoration and there is a piece of archival tape at the top on the verso. The masa paper has been trimmed to the borders, but not into the poster itself. Very Fine- on Paper.
