    Description

The Bitter Tea of General Yen (Columbia, 1933). Very Fine-. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
The Bitter Tea of General Yen was one of the last pre-Code films that Barbara Stanwyck would make before the Hays commission came to tame Hollywood. In this picture from director Frank Capra, Stanwyck's character falls for a Chinese warlord during a rebellion against the British Empire. The subject matter (of inter-racial relations) was a bit much for a lot of the American public at the time. Paper on this title has always been very scarce, in part due to the fact that many theatres refused to play the picture. Signs of handling include pinholes, soft surface scuffs, and a few creases, one of which is a diagonal crease in the lower image. Very Fine-.
