Romance (MGM, 1930). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27.25" X 41"). From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
Never before offered by Heritage, this eye-catching stone litho one sheet makes its first appearance. We have only offered a handful of stills and lobby cards for this Clarence Brown-directed film starring Greta Garbo. Brown and Garbo worked together on several pictures, including 1935's Anna Karenina and Anna Christie, which was released just months before Romance. Brown has the dubious distinction of earning the most Oscar nominations for Best Director without ever taking home an Academy Award and this film garnered him one of his six nominations. Garbo was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as Rita Cavallini. This rare one sheet has received corrections to slight fold wear and separation, a few of the pinholes, and a couple of small chips. Still visible are pinholes, small tears, and faint stains and smudges, all of which are present only in the borders. Featuring a dramatic illustration of Garbo and costar Gavin Gordon, this piece is a must for fans of Garbo.
