    Description

Riptide (MGM, 1934). Fine on Paper. Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style A.
There was no better proof that the old saying "It's who you know" is true than Norma Shearer. After marrying Louis B. Mayer's partner, Irving Thalberg, Shearer shot to stardom with appearances in The Barretts of Wimpole Street and Romeo and Juliet. She was even offered the role of Scarlett O'Hara by David O. Selznick himself! She's beautifully depicted with co-star Robert Montgomery on this rare half sheet, which has been professionally restored to address pinholes and a small tear in Shearer's hip. There was a 2" trim along the right border into the background that has been replaced, and the poster has airbrushing in the yellow background. Fine on Paper.
