    Description

Rasputin and the Empress (MGM, 1932) One Sheet (27" X 41"). Very rare original U.S. poster for controversial film about the last days of the Romanoff dynasty in Russia. All three Barrymore siblings - John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore (who has the role of Rasputin) and Ethel Barrymore play together for the first and only time on film. The film ran into censorship problems and all surviving prints show heavy editing on several sections of the film. This is truly an amazingly rare 1 sheet with only several known to exist. There are some collectors in the hobby who consider this to be an early Horror film. This copy has a a good bit of restoration work performed on it. The item was missing its borders which extended into the red outline box. There is a good bit of chipping and wear throughout the title and within the image. The poster looks great, was restored magnificently and has an apparent grade of very fine. Fair/Good on Linen.
