Night After Night (Paramount, 1932). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27.5" X 40.75") Style A. From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
As vibrant as the day it was printed, Heritage has the pleasure of offering the only known copy of this lovely stone litho one sheet from Mae West's first film for the first time. Despite Constance Cummings winning the lead role, West steals the top spot on this poster with her sultry portrait next to leading leading man George Raft, who had landed her a spot in the film. She would soon become the most gleefully scandalous actress in all of Hollywood with her raunchy sense of humor and frank views on sexuality, which would lead to stringent censorship of her movies after the enforcement of the Production Code in 1934. The poster has benefitted from professional touchup to the folds, pinholes, a few tears, as well as a couple of very small chips at the lower and middle crossfolds. There are unaddressed minor chips and tears still visible in the borders, as is some mild writing bleedthrough near the lower crossfold. The upper border appears to be slightly trimmed but we cannot be sure of that.
