    Description

James Dean in East of Eden (Warner Brothers, 1955). Keybook Photos (42) (8" X 11").
Vintage black and white, single weight, silver gelatin, glossy keybook photos. James Dean is outstanding as the tortured Cal Trask in this film adaptation of the John Steinbeck novel. This lot features terrific candid images and scene shots of Dean with co-stars Julie Harris, Abdul Abbas, Richard Davalos, Richard Garrick, Burl Ives, Lois Smith, Jack Carr, Tippy Elam, Harold Gordon, Jules Brock, Barbara Baxley, Albert Dekker, Raymond Massey, Wheaton Chambers, Frank Baker, Jo Van Fleet, Ray Daws, and director Elia Kazan. It's notable that the part of Cal Task was originally intended for Marlon Brando, who stopped by the set during filming of East of Eden. He is seen in one photo with Dean (who idolized him), Skippy McNally, dialogue director Guy Tomazani, and music director Leonard Rosenman. There are two punch holes at the top of each photo and typed cast notes on the verso, and light curling. Very Fine+.
