    Description

Baby Face (Warner Brothers, 1933). One Sheet (27" X 41").
One of the most debated films of its time, Baby Face proved to be a catalyst for the enforcement of the Production Code in 1934. Barbara Stanwyck is Lilly "Baby Face" Palmer, a barmaid who has lived a life in the company of cigar smoke, booze, and drunken banter at her father's dive. After his unexpected death, and some sage advice from a bar patron, she sets out to conquer the world at the expense of men. Finding herself at a New York City bank, Stanwyck quickly moves up the company ladder, destroying relationships and lives with her beauty, charm, and sexuality along the way. The film earned a bad reputation due to explicit sexual innuendo, and was rejected by the New York State Board of Censors. This forced many of the spicier scenes to be cut, as well as the addition of a new ending, which ultimately diluted the impact of the film. It wasn't until 70 years later that the uncensored version of the film would be seen by an audience, as an original and uncut print was found in the Library of Congress. It is with great pride that Heritage offers this incredibly rare and unrestored one sheet from the classic and controversial film. It has wrinkling in the upper and lower borders, a tear along the vertical fold from the lower border into the background, a tear at the lower crossfold, and archival tape on the verso. The poster still displays bright and fresh colors, and would make for an exquisite and cherished addition to any collection. Fine/Very Fine.
