    Description

    A Woman Under the Influence (Faces International, 1974). Rolled, Very Fine+. Special Pre-Release Posters (2) (24" X 30.75" & 24" X 32").
Director John Cassavetes said this was his most important independent film, but found it nearly impossible to get it distributed. Posters on this title are difficult to find, especially these early smaller format poster printed by the director for use at festivals and other events prior to theatrical distribution. The film earned Oscar nominations for Cassavetes and Gena Rowlands, who took home the Best Actress Golden Globe. From the estate of Ruth Jane Gribin (1945- 2019), who was the founder of Los Angeles' first international and independent film festival, Filmex, which championed the work of innovative outsiders like John Cassavetes, who traditionally had great difficulty releasing their films within the traditional Hollywood system. Upon the conclusion of its groundbreaking and highly popular 12 year run, Gribin and other co-founders devoted their energies to establish the American Cinemateque in Los Angeles, which flourishes to this day. The posters have light edge wear, slight creases, as well as small tears and surface scuffs.
