    Description

The Public Enemy by Kubec Glasmon and John Bright (Grosset & Dunlap, 1931). First US Photoplay Edition Hardcover Book (284 Pages, 5.25" X 7.5") Original Title: Beer and Blood. Crime.
Featured is the first U.S. photoplay edition of Glasmon and Bright's originally unpublished novel Beer and Blood, based on actual murders and gang rivalries that the two had been exposed to in Chicago. Darryl Zanuck of Warner Brothers purchased the rights to the story, and produced The Public Enemy - a classic crime drama starring James Cagney and Jean Harlow. The book itself features four wonderful stills from the film. An unrestored hardcover book that displays signs of use. May include mild edge and spine wear, slight spine separation and/or cracking, small tears, minor cover blemishes, and limited stains in the front interior pages and outer edges. The book is missing its original dustjacket. Please see full-color, enlargeable image above for more details. Fine/Very Fine.
