    Description

Dillinger: Public Enemy No.1 (Midland Film Co., 1934). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (28" X 41.5").
Infamous head of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover, commissioned this propaganda short in response to public backlash against the killing of gangster John Dillinger, who was shot in the back by federal agents while leaving a movie theater. The government distributed the movie in a four-wall campaign, but with only limited release locations, meaning there were few of these posters ever distributed. Printed in stone litho, this one sheet has had touchup applied to the folds, pinholes, torn misfolds, and small chips and tears. These issues may still be somewhat visible, and there are faint smudges in the borders.
