Description
Tugboat Annie (MGM, 1933). One Sheet (27" X 41"). Marie Dressler plays tugboat captain Annie Brennan, married to Terry (Wallace Beery), a lazy and drunken braggart. Their son Alec (Robert Young) becomes the captain of an ocean liner, and Alec yearns for the ship's owner's daughter Pat (Maureen O'Sullivan). With a taste of the upper crust, Alec has grown snooty and tries to get Annie to leave his father and join him on the ocean liner, but she remains loyal to her loutish husband and small boat. Then one drunken night, her no-good hubby crashes her beloved tugboat, so will she follow her son to luxury? Will her son ever win the heart of the rich young lady? A box office hit, Tugboat Annie sailed again seven years later, with Marjorie Rambeau and later Jane Darwell in the title role, and it was made into a TV series in the 1950s. There is only one other copy of this one sheet known as far as we know. Restoration has repaired tears and crease lines in the borders, touched up fold lines and patched cross-fold separation.
