Those Lips, Those Eyes by Robert McGinnis (United Artists, 1980). Very Fine. Original Gouache Concept Artwork on Illustration Board (19.25" X 28.25").
Inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 1993, Robert McGinnis is an extremely prolific artist, having created artwork for over forty films. His work can be found on Breakfast at Tiffany's, Barbarella, and the 1967 Casino Royale. McGinnis also created several illustrations for James Bond films, including Thunderball, Diamonds Are Forever, You Only Live Twice, Live and Let Die, and The Man with the Golden Gun. Not only has the artist worked on movie posters, but he also painted pieces for book covers and magazines, including Saturday Evening Post, Good Housekeeping, and National Geographic. In addition to his other works, McGinnis paints landscapes, old West scenes, and portraits. This particular work is a gouache concept piece for the film Those Lips, Those Eyes, directed by Michael Pressman and starring Frank Langella, Glynnis O'Connor, and Tom Hulce. The artwork is matted and also has a protective acetate cover, both attached with paper tape at the top and part of the left edge. Indications of handling present include slight edge wear, pinholes, small surface lifts at the edges, and a thin surface scratch. Also present is light handling wear from the artist process, including a bit of discoloration in the blue background from when the mat was placed on the piece. The mat has tape stains at the edges where paper tape has been removed as well as a paper lift with ink writing bleedthrough in the lower part, however these were all caused during the production process.
