The Women (MGM, 1939). Insert (14" X 36").
With an all female cast that included some of the biggest names in 1930s Hollywood -- Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Goddard, Joan Fontaine, Ruth Hussey, Virginia Grey -- director George Cukor had his hands full. The result is a humorous look at the damage women do to each other when it comes to men. Screenwriter Anita Loos is responsible for much of the success of the film which is full of snappy, witty dialogue. This insert poster is quite rare, and it boasts great images of Crawford, Shearer, and Russell. The poster has been paperbacked and touchup applied to folds, pinholes, and a tear in the bottom border that extends into the background. Fine/Very Fine on Paper.
