Description

The Three Stooges in Three Little Beers (Columbia, 1935). One Sheet (27" X 41").
For years, material on the Three Stooges has been some of the most popular and sought after in the poster hobby. And since the vast majority of their appearances in films were in short subjects, posters and lobbies for their films are exceptionally difficult to find since many theatres didn't order those advertising accessories. Many Stooge aficionados consider this short, Three Little Beers, to be one of the group's best films and it's also one of their earliest. One sheets from this period are the very hardest to find for the comedy trio and this is the only known copy of this poster. It is from the personal collection of Moe Howard and was acquired after his death from his daughter Joan. The poster has been restored and the issues addressed include wear to the vertical fold which included some slight paper loss in the top cross fold as well along the top fold and the other two center cross fold points. The restoration was done very well and the poster displays beautifully. This has to be one of the most scarce comedy posters from not only the Stooges' career but from the early days of sound comedy shorts! From the Joan Howard Maurer Collection. Fine+ on Linen.
