    Description

The Philadelphia Story (MGM, 1947). Very Fine- on Linen. First Post War Release Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 78") Ercole Brini Artwork.
Cary Grant and James Stewart are looking a little frightened of getting involved with the bride-to-be Tracy Lord (Katharine Hepburn) in one of the best films of the 1940s. Nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Actress, and Director, Oscars went to James Stewart for Best Supporting Actor and for Best Screenplay. To this day, the picture is considered to be one of Hepburn's strongest roles and returned her fading career to Hollywood stardom. This large format Italian poster is from the film's first release in Italy after the end of WWII. Artist Ercole Brini (Breakfast at Tiffany's, Notorious, Blow-Up) created what is undoubtedly the best poster for this picture, a piece that has very few imperfections. Prior to professional conservation the poster has some edge wear and fold wear with wear to the lower panel, right side folds, predominantly. This very rare 4-fogli is ready to be added to a top collection.
