    Description
The Errand Boy by Boris Grinsson (Paramount, 1961). Rolled, Fine+. Signed Original Gouache Artwork on Paper (47" X 62.5") used for French Grande.A Russian transplant to Germany that then fled to France after creating an anti-Hitler election poster, Boris Grinsson eventually found his place in the movie advertising business. Estimated to have created over 2,000 posters for French cinemas, Grinsson became a popular illustrator for American and French studios alike for his distinctive style. Here he paints comedian Jerry Lewis with thick and bright strokes of gouache, a one of a kind piece offered at Heritage for the first time. Signs of use include edge wear, creases, tears, and pinholes. There are stains, smudging, and surface scuffs into the interior. The piece also has a vertical tear at the top that then extends to left, and it has paper and cellophane tape on the verso. There are small areas of clipped paper loss in the image, including in Jerry Lewis' face, and there are production notations in the right border. Rolled, Fine+.
